Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We advise you to supplicate Allah wherever you are, and you should supplicate when you are fully attentive to your supplication.

The sins of people and their heedlessness will not harm you as long as you are upright on the Commands of Allah and fulfill the conditions required for the supplication to be answered.

The best places where you should supplicate Allah are the dearest places to Him, which are the Houses of Allah [i.e. the mosques]. So, going to one of the Houses of Allah, is better than going to the forest. There (in the mosque), you should supplicate Allah humbly, submissively, with tranquility while having your heart attentive, and while having certainty that your supplication will be answered, and while thinking good of Allah. You should supplicate during the times when supplications are most likely to be answered. If you fulfill these matters, then your supplication will not be rejected, Allah willing.

However, if you feel that when you leave the city and go to an open place [forest] your heart will be more attentive and you will feel the Greatness of Allah more and you will supplicate more attentively, then there is no harm in going to this place sometimes.

Allah knows best.
