Question

Can a person's evil eye transform into jinn? If possible, what exactly happens? Can the person who's affected by the evil eye become possessed?

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is nothing religiously or rationally preventing the victim of the evil eye from being possessed by a Jinn, just like anyone else who may be exposed to Jinn possession. However, it is not possible that the effect of the evil eye turns into Jinn possession by and of itself.

In case of Jinn possession, there has to be a demon that possesses the person’s body; however, it is possible for the presence of a demon to occur simultaneously with the evil eye; but we do not know exactly how that would happen. For more information, please refer to Fataawa 89017 and 28793.
