'Eesa (Jesus) never addressed Allaah by the term ‘Father’

Question

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. It is quite evident to everyone that the Christians used to take ‘Eesa (Jesus) and his mother Maryam (Mary), may Allaah exalt her mention, as two gods besides Allaah. My question is does Eesa (Jesus) A.S. used to call Allah Subhana wa taala as Father in the heaven. Is this why the Christians claim him son of god. The Christians have no proof for their claim to be honouring ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) with regard to the Spirit being mentioned in conjunction with God, because this is also mentioned with regard to things other than him. In the Gospel of Luke it says that Jesus said to his disciples: “…how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him” Luke 11:13 (NIV) Jazakaallahu Khaira

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is known that being a father requires one to have a wife children and the like. However, Allaah is One, He is The Eternal Refuge, He neither begets nor was He begotten, and He does not have a companion [i.e. wife], nor a son. He informed us about all this in the Quran.

It was not befitting for ‘Eesa (Jesus) may Allaah exalt his mention to address his Lord with the term ‘father’; he was a Prophet and he was one of the most knowledgeable people about Allaah, and he had the best manners with Allaah. Allaah Says (what means): {And [beware the Day] when Allaah will say, “O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as deities besides Allaah?’ He will say, “Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right.}[Quran 5:116]; and this is among his good manners with Allaah.

With regard to this word (father) being mentioned in the bible, then if you refer to the Ingeel (i.e. Gospel) which Allaah revealed on ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention then there is absolutely nothing like this, and it is not permissible to doubt this fact. However, if you refer to the book which the Christians have today (the Bible), then it has been falsified as mentioned in the Quran. The contradictions which exist between the different versions of the bibles of today are clear evidence proving this. For more benefit on the falsification of the bible, please refer to Fataawa 90449 and 83730.

As regards the reason why the Christians believe that ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention is the son of God, it is because they believe that he was born without a father while there is absolute evidence that his mother, Maryam (Mary), may Allaah exalt her mention, did not fornicate, and that ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention spoke in the cradle and declared his mother innocent from such a sin. Therefore, since they did not find a father for him, and found texts which state that he is a word from Allaah and a spirit from Him, then they traced him back to Allaah as his father; High Exalted is He from such a claim.

Allaah Knows best.
