Missing prayer to buy an item does not make using that item unlawful

Question

Assalamu ‘Alaikum,Shaikh. Few Days ago I bought a Laptop with Halal Money. But I made two mistakes that day when I bought it. These are- 1)I missed my Asr Prayer because I was in a Vehicle. But I Know that I Should be more Serious about this.Actually, I could pray Asr before getting on car but I thought I would be able to pray at the shopping Mall. When I reached in the mall ,I saw that prayer time of Asr was almost going to end. But I didn’t know how much time I had. But after reaching home,I Knew that I had almost 7 minutes. I could have prayed Asr. It was my huge mistake ,not trying to know how much time I had. I am really upset about that because I really could pray asr that day. But because of my frivolous mentality I missed my prayer. Ofcourse I made tawbah for it. Now will this mistake of mine make my Laptop Haram for me? Because I made this mistake when I bought it. 2)That day I told someone that I will meet with a friend at evening.Becuase I told him that we would be going to play Badminton at night. But I didn’t meet him because I came home late from Shopping Mall. I didn’t even make a call and told him that I couldn’t ,meet him. So I broke a promise. So will my Laptop become haram for me because of the reasons written above? I will be grateful if you answer my question ,kindly.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

You delaying the ‘Asr prayer and failing to fulfill your promise have no effect whatsoever on the permissibility of using the laptop which you purchased. We recommend that you avoid such obsessive whispers and refrain from getting carried away with them, because if the whispers get hold of the heart of a person, they lead him to great evils and bad consequences.

Allaah Knows best.
