Assalaamu alaykum, dear Scholars. Not long ago, I ordered some products online. I paid for the product, and the shipping was included, I later discovered that the company uses an outside insurance company to insure its shipments. In consideration of the ruling that insurance is unlawful in Islam, is there any sin if I keep the item or shop at this company in the future? Please shed some light on this issue. May Allaah reward you.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
If your dealings (transactions) with the company are in what is permissible, then there is nothing wrong in dealing with it, buying permissible products from it, and benefitting from those products.
As for the fact that the company has insured its products and goods, then you have nothing to do with that, and if its insurance is commercial and forbidden, then the sin falls upon them and not upon you.
Allaah says (what means): {And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another.} [Quran 6:164]
Allaah knows best.
