Assalaamu alaykum. Please answer me directly. I sometimes recite the Quran from the Mus-haf (physical copy of the Quran) and my ablution breaks by passing wind while reciting. In that case, is it allowed if I just touch the edge of the page to turn to the next page and continue reciting without making ablution given that going and repeating ablution takes time?
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It is impermissible for the person who broke his ablution to touch the Mus-haf directly without a barrier. If you break ablution while reciting from the Mus-haf, it is obligatory to refrain from touching it until you perform ablution again. It is impermissible to touch the edges of the pages to turn them.
The Maaliki scholar Al-Hattaab said about touching the Mus-haf, "It is prohibited to touch the cover of the Mus-haf (without purification). The author said in his commentary: this applies to touching the edge of the pages and the blank spaces between the lines with greater reason." [Mawaahib Al-Jaleel]
