Question
I am Muslim Indian person working in Qatar since 4 year. My question is: I gone to 2 years before vacation my country, there is my parents arranged one marriage my uncle's daughter she is also good, before do not interest me this marriage but my father and mother is this marriage very, very interest after I am like her, and I told them I am ready for this marriage three months staying in my country and come back in Qatar. Now I am going vacation Inshaa Allaah after 2 months I am going make marriage but one my friend told me she is don’t like this marriage we are the parents also like this one, she didn’t talk any other person she told her the intimately friend but he told me. What will do I am making marriage or not making marriage what is Islamic rule? Give me one answer.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
You are highly rewarded for your obedience to your parents. Allaah, the Glorified and the Exalted, will pour His blessings upon you since you have preferred your parent's choice over your own choice. Islam encourages marrying a religious girl as we have mentioned in our Fatwa: 87690.
As for your concern about what one of her friends told you that she does not like this marriage, etc, you should not give heed to such claims. Islam does not allow bearing tales or making decisions based on such rumors.
We advise you to pray Istikhaarah and discuss the matter with your parents and reliable people. Do not believe gossip and do not give heed to the talk of those who backbite people.
