Praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds, and we seek His help.
I congratulate you upon the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan. May Allah bring it always with prosperity and faith for all.
What is the correct way to have the Iftaar meal during Ramadan, when the stomach is empty throughout the day? Please advise, may Allah reward you.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Ever Merciful
Dear brother, Assalaamu ‘Alaykum,
The stomach shrinks while fasting, when it has a small quantity of food. So, it is advisable to break the fast with dates and milk, dates and yogurt or dates and water. The sugar in dates is quickly absorbed by the body and it releases energy quickly. There is no harm in having some soup. Then, after performing the Maghrib (sunset) prayer in the Masjid, you can come back to have a full meal but without overeating. The stomach gets upset when it is suddenly filled with food after being completely empty during fasting.
May Allah grant us success.
