At least 28 people were killed on Sunday in attacks staged by the Syrian regime in several cities across Syria, opposition activists said.

Assad forces killed 9 people in Daraa people, 3 in the suburbs of the capital Damascus and 16 others in several other cities across the country in air and ground strikes, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), a London-based group which tracks civilian and dissident casualties.

There were 5 children and one woman among the dead.

Meanwhile SANA, Syrian national news agency, said that regime forces made major gains against opposition fighters in operations across the country.

More than 100,000 people have been killed in more than two years of conflict in Syria and over two million Syrians are now registered as refugees in neighboring countries, Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq, according to the UN.
