At least four Iraqis have been killed and 18 wounded in a car bomb explosion outside a city council building north of Baghdad, while a second car bombing to the south wounded six Iraqi national guards.
The bombings happened on Thursday, a day when three Jordanian truck-drivers were taken captive. Two local Iraqi leaders were gunned down elsewhere.
The US military said that a car sped towards the council building in Dujail, a city 50 km from the Iraqi capital.

A second car laden with explosives exploded near a checkpoint in town of Iskandariya, south of Baghdad, on Thursday morning, wounding six national guards, a US military spokesman said.
Public buildings are frequently targeted in fighting that has pitted fighters against the US-backed government and its security forces as well as US-led troops in Iraq.
In a separate attack northeast of the Iraqi capital, armed men opened fire on a car that was carrying a local village chief.

Police in the northern city of Kirkuk, meanwhile, found the body of a man thought to have collaborated with US forces, police chief Turhan Yusif said.
**Three UK soldiers killed***
Three British troops from the Black Watch regiment in Iraq have been killed in an attack.
British forces suffered "a number" of casualties, Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram told parliament on Thursday.
"We have suffered a number of casualties including three fatalities. The process of informing their next of kin is under way," Ingram told lawmakers in a brief statement.
Some 850 British troops, mostly from the Black Watch regiment, are stationed at Camp Dogwood, 48km southwest of Baghdad.
