All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
It is not an obligation for whoever wants to offer a sacrifice to offer another sacrifice on behalf of the Prophet or on behalf of any other dead person. We are not aware of any evidence from the Sharee’ah about this. Furthermore, as far as we know, the Prophet did not order his nation to offer a sacrifice on his behalf.
What is legislated for a Muslim to do is to offer a sacrifice for himself and his family as the Prophet did.
