Question:

Assalamu Alykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
I wanted to know whether brushes made from hairs of goat, pony, horse, badgers, zebra's, Minx, etc are halal for muslims to use
JazakAllaah,

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

It is permissible to use the brushes which are made of the hair of pure animals, whether they are cattle or not, edible or not, and whether the edible animals are dead or slaughtered according to the rules of Sharee'ah, because the hair of the animals mentioned above is pure, even the hair of the dead animals, according to the preponderant opinion of scholars. Since life does not penetrate the hair, it does not turn impure after death. The pig hair is an exception for it is totally impure like the animal it came from, and it is not permissible to use its hair in making brushes.

Allaah Knows best.
