so i want to ask , can we read dat surah or do we hav to find a proof in sunnah or quraan . i fear if dis falls in bidat.
pls help.
jazaakALLAH.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Reciting this Surah regularly at a particular time and a specified number of times needs evidence. Ash-Shaatibi may Allaah have mercy upon him stated that among the things that are included in innovations is “to abide by doing some particular acts of worship at particular periods of time whereas there is no such specification in the Sharee’ah.”

Instead, you may recite any Surah or verse from the Quran, and it is more appropriate to recite verse 255 from Chapter Al-Baqarah [Quran 2:255], and Surahs 112, 113 and 114 as the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) used to recite them when he goes to bed.

For more benefit on Ruqyah for treating magic and evil eye and the like, please refer to Fataawa 88705, 82918 and 84806.

Finally, the two following matters should be mentioned:

  1. The occurrence of such matters is not necessarily due to magic and the like. Rather, one should also look for normal causes and endeavour to eliminate them if any.
  2. One should avoid going to the people who are not righteous and who pretend to cure magic, as these people are in general magicians.

Allaah Knows best.
