Durood-e-Jinni is an innovation

Question:

Assalamu 'alaykum Respected Shaikh, My question to you is, is there any darud called as darud e jinni? The darud is supposed to be this (as said by a local scholar here): Allahumma Salli 'ala Sayyidina wa Moulana Muhammad wa 'ala Salihil Muminil Jin. This darud, as reported by the Scholar, was recited often by the Prophet (PBUH), is that true? Reciting this darud supposedly brings the help of 'momin jinn' for you, how true is this? It will be helpful if you provide some additional details on this. JazakAllah, ma'assalama.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We are not aware of any evidence in the Sharee’ah to prove this form of exalting the mention of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and it is not permissible for a Muslim to falsely attribute to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) what he did not say; if one does so he is included in the threat that was confirmed in the Hadeeth. Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Whoever deliberately tells lies about me, let him take his place in Hellfire.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Besides, Al-Mugheerah Ibn Shu’bah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Whoever narrates a Hadeeth from me which is seen as a lie, then he is one of the liars.” [Muslim]

For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa speaking with animals">144539.

Besides, there are many methods of exalting the mention of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) that were confirmed in the authentic Sunnah; so there is no reason to resort to innovated methods of exalting his mention. For more benefit on these methods of exalting the mention of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, please refer to Fataawa 85981 and 84530.

Finally, it is not permissible to seek the help of the jinn even if this is for permissible objectives as we clarified in Fatwa 85875.

Allaah Knows best.
