Man using cosmetics to hide acne

Question:

Is it permissible for a man to wear make-up in order to hide acne?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

If the cosmetics in question are of a type that is specific to women, then men are not permitted to use it for beautifying purposes. Men are not allowed to use women-specific adornments as it features imitation to women, which has been forbidden by the Sharee'ah and rejected by nature. In this respect, it was narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbaas that he said, "The Messenger of Allah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men."  [Al-Bukhari and others]
