Question:

ASSALAAMU ALAIKUM PLS GIVE ME THE CLARIFICATIONS OF THE QURAN VERSES FROM SURA AT THAUBA (CHAPTER NUMBER 9 : VERSES NUMBER 107, 108, 109) AND WHAT IS LESSON FOR US FROM THESE VERSES ?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds.  I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Allaah Says (what means): {And [there are] those [hypocrites] who took for themselves a mosque for causing harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a station for whoever had warred against Allaah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, “We intended only the best.” And Allaah testifies that indeed they are liars. Do not stand [for prayer] within it — ever. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allaah loves those who purify themselves. Then is one who laid the foundation of his building on righteousness [with fear] from Allaah and [seeking] His approval better or one who laid the foundation of his building on the edge of a bank about to collapse, so it collapsed with him into the fire of Hell? And Allaah does not guide the wrongdoing people.}[Quran 9:107-109]

These verses were revealed to expose the hypocrites' evil intentions. By building the mosque they intended to cause division amongst the Muslims, and use the mosque as a place to propagate their disbelief and support their followers. Therefore, Allaah forbade His Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) to pray in it, and He commanded him to burn and destroy it.

On the other hand, the mosque that was founded on piety was the mosque of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and the mosque of Qubaa'. There is no doubt that both of these two mosques were founded from the first day on piety and fear of Allaah, The Almighty.

Here are some lessons that we can learn from these verses:

1- Hypocrisy and hypocrites constitute a danger to the Muslim community.

2- The Muslims should not be lured by the attractive slogans of the people of falsehood.

3- We should be firm in facing the hypocrites and their likes.

4- The virtue of purity and piety (fear of Allaah).

5- A Warning against injustice and against being extremely unjust; as this prevents the guidance of Allaah and therefore leads to ruin.

Allaah Knows best.
