Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

This condition is not an impediment to getting married, neither in Islamic law nor in customs and traditions, especially that you mentioned that this depression is mild. Marriage is good and there are many benefits in it, among which is that it is a reason for the stability and tranquility of one’s soul. Allaah says (what means): {And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.}[Quran 30:21]

Therefore, it is most likely that marriage would be a cure for you from this depression.

We do not understand what you mean by saying that your parents does not have any ideas of that sort.... If you mean your need for marriage, then we have already clarified what a girl should do to inform her parents about her need for marriage, so please refer to Fataawa 87295 and 81675.

On the other hand, if you mean that they object to your marriage while you are under depression, then they have no right to do so. However, you should try to convince them with any permissible means. If this is achieved, then this is what is required, otherwise you may get married even without their consent.

Finally, the consent of the woman's guardian is a condition for the validity of her marriage, but if he refuses to accept a suitable and competent man who proposes to marry her without having a sound reason for his refusal, then she has the right to take her case to an Islamic judge as we clarified in Fataawa 125608 and 156905.

Allaah Knows best.
