All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
As for the Hadeeth "Whoever neglects the prayer deliberately, his name is written on the gate of the Hellfire to be among those who enter it", it was reported by Abu Nu‘aym from Abu Sa‘eed (Al-Khudri) . Also, As-Suyooti attributed it to him in Jami‘ Al-Jawaami‘ as Al-Haythami did in Al-kabaa'ir and we did not see anyone who deemed it authentic or weak.
However, by considering its Isnaad (chain of narrators), we will find it has ‘Atiyyah Al-‘Awfi who is weak according to Ahmad, Ad-Daaraqutni, Ibn ‘Adiyy and others.
It also has Ismaa‘eel ibn Yahya who is accused of fabrication and Ath-Thahabi stated that scholars agreed that he is Matrook (rejected). This indicates that the Isnaad of this Hadeeth is not sound.
Allaah Knows best.
