Question:

Could you plz explain the interpretation of 95-96 verses of Surah al-Anbiya

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and messenger.

As for the statement of Allaah Almighty (which means): {And there is prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return. Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend.}, Allaah says (what means): {And there is prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return.}[Quran 21:95]; the meaning is {there is prohibition}, i.e. it is prohibited {upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed}, i.e. it is forbidden for the people of a city that has been destroyed and punished to return to this world to rectify the matters they were negligent in. There is no way to return for whoever is destroyed and punished.

Allaah says about Gog and Magog being let loose (what means) {Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend. And [when] the true promise has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers.}[Quran 21:95-96]

Gog and Magog are two tribes from the progeny of Aadam (Adam) may Allaah exalt his mention and Dhul-Qarnayn had built a barrier against them when people complained to him that they spread corruption in the land. At the end of the time the barrier will be opened, and they will come forth to the people from every raised portion of land, and they will spread over its corners, quickly. {And the true promise has approached} which means that the Day of Resurrection has come nearer and its terrors have appeared. Then, the eyes of the disbelievers will be wide open but their eyes will not even blink as they stare in horror because of the tremendous events that they are witnessing. They will supplicate against themselves saying “Woe to us! We were indeed heedless of this day (while in this world) and we were wrongdoers.”

Allaah Knows best.
