There is no Hadeeth about the therapeutic properties of onions

Question:
Assalaam u alaikum I have 2 questions 1) I read on some Islamic page that if an onion juice is provided to a cancer or tumor patient for about 40 days, by stopping his chemotherapy, may cure him/her as Allah has given treatment for every disease and it is a hadees that onion besides having odd smell cures 70 diseases..so please throw some light on this.is it authentic ? 2)it is not permissible for anyone to expose his evil deeds,traits before anyone after his repentance before Allah. So,what if the doctors prescribe you medicines after they hear from you your personal problems,nature,likings,past and present situations in order to reveal the actual cause of illness. Is it permissible for a girl to expose everything before a male doctor in that case? Please answer my questions in light of Islam. Jazakallahu khairan kaseera
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
We are not aware of any Hadeeth which indicates that onions are a cure for diseases or a Hadeeth about its virtue. Nonetheless, some fabricated Ahaadeeth have been reported about onions, like the Hadeeth which reads: "Make use of onions, for they enhance sperm and make the children healthy"; and the Hadeeth which reads: "O ‘Ali, if you take provisions along with you, do not forget onions"; as well as the Hadeeth about the person who grieved to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, about not having children so he advised him to eat eggs and onions." All these Ahaadeeth are fabricated and the scholars mentioned them in the literature of the fabricated Ahaadeeth.
Since, there is no Islamic text which states that onions are a cure, then the matter in this regard should be referred to specialist physicians.
As regards telling the doctor about one's sins for the sake of treatment, in principle, one should conceal his sins whether or not he repented from them. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "Everyone in my community is forgiven for their sins except those who sin openly or disclose their sins to people. An example of such disclosure is that a person commits a sin by night and though Allaah has screened it from the people, he comes in the morning, and says, 'O so-and-so, I did such-and-such a deed last night', thus he spent his night screened by his Lord, and in the morning he removes Allaah's screen from himself." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Also, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "Whoever happens to commit any of these filthy things should conceal himself as Allaah did not expose him." [Al-Bayhaqi]
At-Taaj wal-Ikleel li-Mukhtasar Khaleel reads: "This Hadeeth is evidence that a Muslim must conceal his sins if he committed immorality, and he is also required to conceal the sins from others." [End of quote]
However, if the necessity of treatment requires informing the doctor about the sins because it is relevant to the treatment, we do not know of any impediment for doing so, provided that this is limited to the extent of need only. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 121952.
