All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger.
This has been stated by several scholars, among them Al-Aajurri in his book Ash-Sharee‘ah, Al-Qurtubi in At-Tathkirah and others. A weak Hadeeth was reported in this regard. Al-Bukhari cited this report in At-Tareekh Al-Kabeer on the authority of Muhammad ibn Yoosuf ibn ‘Abdullaah ibn Salaam from his father from his grandfather that ʻEesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), will be buried with the Prophet in his house. Muhammad Al-Bukhari commented, “This report is inauthentic in my view and cannot be corroborated (by another report).”
At-Tirmithi cited the report in his Sunan on the authority of Muhammad ibn Yoosuf ibn ‘Abdullaah ibn Salaam as related by his father as related by his grandfather, who said: “The description of Muhammad is written in the Torah and (it is also written) that ʻEesa, son of Mary, will be buried with him.” Abu Mawdood said, “There remains in the room (of ‘Aa’ishah) the space of a grave.” Abu ʻEesa (At-Tirmithi) commented, “This Hadeeth is Hasan Ghareeb." Al-Albaani labeled it as weak.
Al-Haafith Ibn Hajar wrote, “In a Hadeeth that was not confirmed as authentic, she (i.e. ‘Aa’ishah ) asked the Prophet to be buried by his side if she lived after him, so he said to her: "How will you have such a thing when there is nothing in that place but my grave and the grave of Abu Bakr, ʻUmar and ʻEesa, son of Maryam."
Further, it was cited in Akhbaar Al-Madeenah with a weak chain of narration on the authority of Sa‘eed ibn Al-Musayyib that "The graves of the three are in the room of 'Aa’ishah, and there is a place for a grave in which ‘Eesa will be buried."” [Fat-h Al-Baari]
Allaah Knows best.
