All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The hadeeth about reviving the parents of the Prophet and them believing in him and then causing them to die again is a hadeeth about which the scholars differed in opinion as to whether it is authentic or not.
Al-Qurtubi, As-Suyooti, and others said that it is authentic. However, the most prominent scholars of Hadeeth classified it as weak, and many of them ruled that it is fabricated.
Ibn Katheer said in his Tafseer (exegesis), "The hadeeth about reviving the parents of the Prophet is not reported in any of the six books of the Sunan, nor in any other book, and its Isnaad (chain of narrators) is weak."
Among the scholars who decisively stated that the hadeeth is fabricated are Ibn Al-Jawzi, Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah, and others.
Allah knows best.
