Adding experience in interest-based bank on CV

Question:

I have worked in a non-Islamic bank which deals with interest for one year. After realizing it is haram, I left the job and asked Allah for forgiveness. My question is: can I include this job experience on my CV considering that it was haram? If I get another job on the basis of this job, will I be sinful?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is no harm on you in including this job experience on your CV. If you get a lawful job based on this experience, your work is lawful and you bear no sin for the experience you gained in an interest-based bank. This is because experience in accounting or the like of financial and banking skills and knowledge is not exclusive to interest, so it is not unlawful in and of itself.
