Question:

Asalam O AlaikumI am a married woman and i do not like or desire my husband. Can i choose a man of my choice in jannah? Many scholars have said that malice hatred will be removed from heart in jannah so that we will love our worldly husband, but i want something different. it is said that a dua made at fasting is not rejected so if i say to allah to grant me a spouse of my choice in jannah in ramadhan 2019 , will allah keep reward for me in hereafter?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we ask Allah to make you and us among the people of Paradise; this is the greatest objective that should be the main concern of the believer, whether male or female.

The matter in question is something already decided. If we presume that your current husband is your last husband, then a wife in Paradise will be for the last husband that she had married in this worldly life if they both enter Paradise, so there is no way that you will be for someone other than the man who was your husband in this worldly life. Therefore, you should stop thinking about this.

In Paradise, the matter is not just that there will be no hatred or resentment, but a woman would not feel (or wish) to be for anyone else other than her husband. Rather, she will be totally pleased and content with him, because with this her bliss will be complete she will never feel that she is lacking anything.

The people of Paradise will be in full and eternal happiness and bliss. Allah Says (what means): {And as for those who were [destined to be] prosperous, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will - a bestowal uninterrupted.} [Quran 11:108]

Besides, Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "Whoever enters Paradise shall enjoy and shall not suffer; his clothes shall not wear out, and his youth shall not come to an end."

If a woman supplicates to be in Paradise for other than her husband, then it is considered transgressing when supplicating, which one should not do, and there is no use to supplicate with this, as it is futile.

Ibn Al-Qayyim may Allaah have mercy upon him said in Ighaathat Al-Lahfaan while clarifying what transgressing in supplication is: "Every request that contradicts Allah’s wisdom, or includes a contradiction to His Sharee’ah or His Order, or includes something contrary to what He has informed in the Quran and the Sunnah (like asking Allah to live until the Hereafter or for a woman to ask Allah to make her marry other than her husband in Paradise); all this is considered a transgression that Allah does not like, and He does not like the one supplicating with it." [End of quote]

Finally, it should be noted that love in marital life can exist after it has never existed. So, look at the positive aspects in your husband, and try to overlook his shortcomings, as this is one of the means that lead to love. You should also be mindful that not loving your husband can result from the interference of the devil in order to break up the family. Remind yourself with the saying of ‘Umar may Allaah be pleased with him: "Not all homes are established on love."
