All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Maaliki scholars mentioned the recommendation of repeating a present prayer after making up for a small number of missed prayers. They stated that one should repeat the Jumu‘ah prayer after making up for missed prayers when it is easy for him to find a Masjid where the Jumu‘ah prayer has not been prayed yet. Otherwise, he has to repeat it as a Thuhr prayer with four Rak‘ahs.
Know that you had to make up for the Subh prayer as soon as you remembered it, as the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "Whoever sleeps and misses a prayer or forgets to pray it, he has to pray it as soon as he remembers it." [Muslim]
In Al-Fataawa Al-Kubra, Shaykh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "When one remembers a missed prayer during the Khutbah, whether or not he listens to the speaker, he should make up for it if there is enough time to catch the Jumu‘ah prayer. Moreover, the majority of scholars are of the opinion that it is obligatory. This is because the prohibition to pray during the Khutbah does not include the obligatory prayers. According to the sounder of the two opinions of scholars, the missed prayer is obligatory."
Then he mentioned that there are two opinions by Ahmad regarding repeating the Jumu‘ah prayer after making up for a missed prayer and whether or not to repeat it as a Thuhr prayer.
