All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
What is meant by hastening to do good deeds mentioned in the Quran such as the Saying of Allah (which means): {It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein.} [Quran 23:61] and other verses, the meaning of which is hastening and taking the initiative to do good deeds.
Al-Baghawi said in his Tafseer:
“The Saying of Allah (which means): {It is those who hasten to good deeds}, means they take the initiative to do good deeds.” [End of quote]
This hastening to do good deeds is not specific to some kind of good deeds only; rather, if a Muslim can do any portion of every good deed that he is able to do, then let him hasten to do it and not delay.
Allah Knows best.
