Music and singing

Question:

I live in Sweden. Is music or singing halal? What can I do to forget about singing or songs that I learned?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

We already issued a Fatwa forbidding music and prohibiting listening to it.  Please read the Fatawa: 81545 and 81239.

In order to forget singing, occupy your tongue in the remembrance of Allah and in reading the Qur'an as well as the useful knowledge.
