All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
A mother should not beat her son harshly to an extent of leaving marks or scars, whatever the case may be, because severe beating may cause death. Some scholars stated that if admonishing the child is of no avail, he still should not be severely beaten. Therefore, we advise your mother to fear Allaah, it might be that she would hit you [or any one of your brothers and sisters] and cause death, and she will regret that until the Day of Judgement. We also advise you to treat your mother kindly and be dutiful to her, as her right on you is great and it comes after the Right of Allaah and His Prophet . Indeed the Prophet was asked: "Who deserves my good company more?", and he replied: "Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father." So the mother has more right to your good company, kindness and obedience than anyone else, as long as she does not order you to do what is forbidden by Allaah. If she does not approve of your spending the night in the mosque, you have to obey her. It might be that the reason she is so severe with you is due to your disobedience to her and your neglect of her orders when she enjoins you to do something or forbids you from doing it. There is no harm for you to seek the help of your righteous relatives to intercede for you so she will not hit you in the future and to remind her of Allaah and that severe hitting may cause death. We ask Allaah to help you to be kind and dutiful to your mother.
Allaah knows best.
