Working on Friday after the Prayer

Question:

Is it forbidden to wash clothes on Friday? Can we wash clothes or any other work after the Jumu'ah prayer?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

 

It is permissible to wash clothes or do any other permissible work on Friday before Friday prayer or after it. But when one hears the second call, he has to endeavour to go to the prayer, as it should be performed by every free  Muslim male, in sound mind, resident and able, as Allaah says (which means): {O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the prayer on the day of Friday (Jumu'ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing).}[62:9].
