All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If this scholarship that is given to you towards the study expenses of your daughter is conditioned upon her being a student in that country where she is a resident, or that the custom is that it is given to her provided she is studying in that country, then the prevalent custom is considered as a condition and therefore you have to meet the requirement of this custom. It is confirmed that the Prophet said: "The Muslims should fulfil their conditions." [Abu Daawood] However, if this scholarship is given to you regardless whether your daughter is studying in the country where she resides or elsewhere, then there is no harm in benefiting from it. Nevertheless, it is most likely that the case applies to the first instance.
Allaah knows best.
