References of a Fatwa about amulets containing Quranic verses

Question:

Asslam O Alaikum, Dear Scholars, tell me the references that you quoted in your fatwa 83434: Hanging amulets containing Qur'anic verses of Names and Attributes of Allah is a controversial issue among the Muslim scholars. Some including Abdullah Ibn Amar believe that it is lawful. This also conforms to what was reported from Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her). It is also the opinion of Jafaar Al Baqir, Imam Ahmad (in a narration) and it is the most preponderant opinion in the Malikite Madhab. Give me the full reference of the above statement..thanks

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

The scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them spoke about the ruling of wearing forbidden and permissible amulets when interpreting the Prophetic narrations and verses of the Quran, and spoke about it when talking about the belief in many contexts; for instance you may refer to the interpretation of Imaam Al-Qurtubi may Allaah have mercy upon him about the saying of Allaah (which means): {And We send down from the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism and act on it), and it increases the polytheists and wrong-doers nothing but loss.}[Quran 17:82].

You may also refer to Al-Majmoo' for An-Nawawi may Allaah have mercy upon him under the book of ''foods'', and to Fath Al-Baari for Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him under the book of ''Jihaad'' in the chapter: "What is said regarding the hanging of bells and the like, round the necks of camels", and the book of Al-Manawi may Allaah have mercy upon him entitled Faydhul-Qadeer in his interpretation of narration 9390 about the prohibition of performing Ruqyah, wearing amulets and bewitchment (in order to make the husband increase his love towards his wife).

Finally, we would like to draw the attention of the respected questioner that these references are in Arabic but we listed them as per his request.

Allaah Knows best.
