Question:

Is it possible to photograph a jinni? It is said that a young man took a photo of a jinni in a cave but then died.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

The existence of the Jinn is an undeniable fact because it is established by the Quran, Sunnah, and the consensus of scholars. Jinn take on different images and forms. No one can assert that the published photo is the real shape of the jinni. Perhaps he appeared in the form of a human.

Assuming that such an incident is true, the lesson to be learnt from it is that one should not enter deserted places without being fortified by the mention of Allaah The Almighty. Many people neglect this matter when they go on picnics in deserted places. On the authority of Khawlah bint Hakeem may Allaah be pleased with her the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, ordered that anyone who lands in a place to say “A‘oothu bikalimaatillaahi at-taammaat min sharrri  ma khalaq, (I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allaah from the evil of what He has created),” and that by saying so nothing would harm him until he has left that place. [Muslim]

This matter is greatly emphasized with regard to children, whether males or females.

Allaah Knows best.
