Day two, The 9th day of Thul-Hijjah

This day is known as the Day of ‘Arafah. After performing Fajr (dawn) prayer in Mina, the pilgrim waits until just sunrise, and then heads out of Mina to the Plain of ‘Arafah, which he/she should enter around noon.

In ‘Arafah, the pilgrim performs Thuhr (noon) and 'Asr (afternoon) prayers joined and shortened. He should then wait in ‘Arafah until just sunset, then set out to Muzdalifah (an area between ‘Arafah and Mina). There, he performs Maghrib (sunset) and ‘Ishaa' (night) prayers together, with ’Ishaa' shortened, then he spends the rest of the night in supplication and sleep.
