Fatwa CenterMarrying a woman with whom one had foreplay
Question
What is the ruling on a man who did all kinds of foreplay with a woman for a period of three years, should he marry her so that Allaah would forgive him or should he marry a woman other than her? Please reply at your earliest as this is about the future of a Muslim man.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
You have indeed committed a great major sin, so if you repent and return to Allaah, it is permissible for you to marry her and it might be that you would be a reason for keeping her chaste and cause her to repent to Allaah as you were the reason for causing her to commit that great abominable sin. It is also permissible for you to marry a woman other than her, so take the initiative to marry as you are ordered to do so, in order to avoid committing the same sin again. The Prophet 
said: "O young people, whoever is able to marry should marry, and whoever is not able to do so, he should fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual desires."
