Treatment by Repeating One of the Names of Allah Not Authentic

Question

A man gave me a paper suggesting that a knowledgeable person conducted research for three years and concluded that healing can be achieved using the beautiful names of Allah and that each can be used to cure a certain disease. For example, cancer can be cured by the name 'Jalla Jalaaluhu' (exalted is His majesty and might), and thigh pains can be cured by repeating the name 'Ar-Rafi'' (The Exalter, He who uplifts) and some verses of the Quran. He wants me to transfer this information onto a computer word processor in order to print and distribute them. Is this true? Is it permissible for me to transcribe this information or should I keep away from this issue?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Claiming that each of the beautiful names of Allah, the Exalted, can be used in curing a disease affecting a specific body part is totally baseless and is not supported by evidence from the sharia. Based on experiments, some claim that this is true, but others deny it. Therefore, the optimal thing to be done in this regard is to supplicate Allah, the Exalted, with His names and attributes in order to relieve any distress, and an afflicted person should supplicate Him with the name that suits his condition. We advise you not to transcribe or distribute these documents because this information is based on delusions that may lead some people to hold false beliefs.

Allah knows best.
