An unauthentic narration about women who do not wear Hijab

Question

Someone has asked this question regarding what he heard in a lecture:
Which Hadeeth states that a woman who does not wear hijab will have an odour that would kill the entire dunyaa if the odour was brought into the dunya while she is in jahannam?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We have not come across the meaning which you mentioned in the question in any of the reliable books of Sunnah we have at hand. It might be that you are referring to the Hadeeth of Abu Moosa may Allaah be pleased with him that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "Whoever dies while being an alcohol addict, Allaah will make him drink from the river of Al-Ghootah.” He was asked: “And what is the river of Al-Ghootah?” He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) replied: “It is a river that flows from the private parts of the prostitutes and the smell of their private parts harms the people of Hellfire.” [Ahmad]

However, that a woman is not wearing Hijab does not necessarily mean that she is an adulteress/fornicatress.

Allaah Knows best.
