Working for companies established with interest loans

Question

I live in England. In this country every company is based upon loans. Can I work in a place that is related to interest (Riba)? One company borrows money from bank and they pay interest to the bank. Can I work for this kind of company? Shall I leave this kind of job?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If you are asking about the permissibility of working in companies that deal in Riba, then we state that this is forbidden unless there is a dire necessity.

Allah Says (what means): {… But if one is forced by necessity without willful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, then there is no sin on him. …} [Quran 2: 173]

But, you have to know that the "Necessity" is valued according to its proper value; for example, if one may face death or an unbearable hardship. Furthermore, it becomes forbidden to work for such companies when the necessity ends.
