Question
I have just been selected as a winner of a promotion lucky draw held by a website company. I didn't buy anything or participate in anything. Is it Halaal for me to accept the prize?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If the matter is as stated in the question that you did not participate by paying a price for this draw, and did not buy anything for the purpose of entering the draw, then we do not see any harm in taking the prize on the condition that there is no other prohibition like promoting for companies that deal in a prohibited field.
