Two Hamas activists were killed in an Israeli helicopter attack in central Gaza, the fifth attack in nine days, as Israel increased pressure on the Palestinian Islamic group to stop rocket attacks on Israeli targets.
Saturday's attack came just hours after Israel officials vowed to pursue a harassment campaign against Hamas through incursions and targeted assassinations in order to put an end to the firing of the group's homemade Qassam rockets at Israeli targets.
Palestinian medical and security sources said four Israeli missiles ploughed into a car carrying Abdullah Akel, 35, and Farid Mayat, both members of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades.
Two other people were injured in the strike, which took place on a road which runs between the neighboring al-Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps, they said.
It was the fifth Israeli attack on Hamas activists in the past nine days.

Also in the Strip, Israeli occupation troops killed an 8 year-old girl and wounded seven other Palestinians with submachine gun fire in Khan Younis refugee camp, witnesses and hospital officials said. They said the girl, Aya Fayad, was shot in the chest by soldiers firing at the camp from a nearby military base.
