A bomb hidden in a video cassette recorder killed three people and wounded 28 others when it exploded in a busy market in Indian Kashmir.
The VCR had been brought for repairs to an electronic shop in Rajauri, 110 miles north-west of Jammu, the winter capital of Kashmir.
It contained an explosive device which apparently contained a timing device.
The shop owner, his assistant and another person died instantly in the blast.
Seven of those wounded were in critical condition. It was unclear who was behind the attack.
The Rajauri area has witnessed repeated attacks over the past 13 years by Islamic fighters for Kashmir's independence or merger with Pakistan.
India accuses its neighbor and rival of backing the armed forces.
More than 63,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the dispute.
