Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian man yesterday near the West Bank city of Jenin, witnesses and the army said. In the village of Qabatiya near Jenin, Palestinian rescue workers said they found the body of Ahmed Nazal, 28, in a bullet riddled car in an open field. Meanwhile, Israeli Justice Minister Yossef Lapid said he expected the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to come down against Israel's West Bank separation barrier. **Ruling*** "The minister anticipates a negative ruling for Israel but believes however that government representatives should attend the hearing," Tashi Moshe, spokesman for Lapid, said. An official at Israel's state prosecutor office said for her part the presence of Israeli officials would not change anything as she too expected an unfavorable ruling. Irit Kahan, who heads the office's international affairs department, told public radio: "I don't think that because we won't be there, the judges will formulate a position against us. The expectation is that a position against us will be formulated in any event." "We have certainly shown sufficient respect to the court by trying to prevent it from being dragged into a political move by the Arab countries," she said. Also yesterday, a Palestinian fighter, Mohammed Gelita, died of wounds sustained in a February 1 gun battle with Israeli troops in the West Bank town of Jericho, the army said. In other violence, the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, said they had killed a Bethlehem resident suspected of collaborating with Israel. Al Aqsa said they had shot and killed Khaled Abu Assal, 28, after he confessed to aiding Israeli intelligence in tracking down fighters. **PHOTO CAPTION*** The United States is sending envoys to push Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for changes in Israel's West Bank barrier and help decide whether to back his plan to uproot Gaza settlements, diplomats said on February 13, 2004.
