A police guard was killed and at least 32 other people injured yesterday when two car bombs exploded near US buildings in Karachi, Pakistan police and medical sources said. The guard died in the city's Jinnah hospital. The injured included 10 journalists, Press photographers and TV cameramen. Others hurt were police officers and civilians, police said. The explosions occurred near the Consul General's residence and the adjacent Pakistan-American Cultural Centre, police said, adding the two car bombs exploded half an hour apart. Police denied reports about a third blast elsewhere in the congested Gurumandar area. "It is an act of terrorism and the US building was definitely the target," city police chief Tariq Jamil said. The second, more powerful, blast occurred as police and security officials were investigating the first explosion, they said, adding that police and journalists were injured in the blast. **PHOTO CAPTION*** Pakistani policemen remove a wounded colleague after a bomb blast in Karachi May 26, 2004.
