An explosion ripped through a Palestinian car in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah on Thursday afternoon, killing two people, medics said.
Palestinian sources said they saw an Israeli helicopter firing missiles at the car. They hit the car as it was nearing the entrance of the Gaza Strip town of Rafah, not far from the Egyptian border, the Palestinian sources said.
Locals said the two men killed in the air strike were fighters wanted by Israel.
They were identified as as Zaki Abu Zarqa and Amr Abu Sita, members of the Abu Reish group, an offshoot of Fatah faction that has recently been highly critical of the chairman and claimed responsibility for a recent wave of kidnappings in Gaza Strip last week.
The Abu Reish Brigade was formed in 1994 and named after Ahmed Abu Rish, a Fatah leader assassinated by Israel five days after he was released in an amnesty deal.
Earlier, a 27-year-old Palestinian, Zaher al-Ashqar, was killed Thursday by Israeli forces in the West Bank town of Saida, north of Tulkarem, witnesses said.
"Israeli tanks, backed by helicopters thrust into the two towns of Saida and Illar, north of Tulkarem, and killed al-Ashqar" witnesses told WAFA. Israel said the man was a leading Islamic Jihad activist.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian girl and her brother were arrested also Thursday morning by Israeli troops in the West Bank city of Tubas.
Witnesses told WAFA that Israeli troops thrust into the city of Tubas and arrested Amna Daraghmeh, 22, and her 15-year-old brother, Thaer.
Elsewhere, in Gaza Strip, occupation troops entered the Rafah refugee camp, residents said, and bulldozers destroyed at least 18 buildings. Sources in the Israeli army said an operation was underway to search for arms smuggling tunnels.
According to Israeli sources, forces have discovered and destroyed dozens of tunnels under the border. Many of them originate inside buildings in the refugee camp.
Residents said some people were fleeing their houses.
According to WAFA, Israeli soldiers killed Thursday morning two Palestinians in the southern Gaza Strip town of al-Qarara.
Witnesses said Israeli troops, stationed in "Netzer Hazani" settlement, fired gunshots and missiles at Riyadh Odwan, 22, and Younis Abadla, 23, and killed them on the spot.
The bodies of the two victims were mutilated after being hit with missiles. Israeli troops prevented Palestinian paramedics from evacuating the bodies, according to witnesses.
In the meantime, two Qassam rockets landed early Thursday morning in Israel's southern town of Sderot. Paramedics treated nine Israelis for shock.
One of the rockets landed in a residential neighborhood, causing light damage to several houses. The second rocket landed on a gravel road near the town's public library, causing no damage, media reports said.
