At least eleven Palestinians and three Israelis have been killed in a day of violence in the Gaza strip. The latest attack by Palestinian resistance fighters killed two Israelis along a strip of road connecting the northern Gaza Jewish settlements of Elei Sinai and Dugit, Israeli radio said on Thursday. One of those killed was a woman jogging along a road near a Jewish settlement in the northern Gaza Strip, occupation military sources said. The woman's identity was not immediately available. Soldiers who rushed to the scene returned fire and killed at least one fighter. Earlier, two fighters from the resistance group Hamas struck an Israeli position near the Jabalya refugee camp, killing a soldier before they were shot dead. Earlier on Thursday, a column of Israeli tanks invaded the heart of the Jabalya camp in the northern Gaza Strip as the army broadened its sweep for fighters behind a deadly rocket attack on an Israeli town. Palestinian witnesses said a large number of tanks and armoured bulldozers were rumbling into the centre of the camp where clashes between fighters and troops has raged overnight. **'Tense' situation*** Reporting from Gaza, Aljazeera correspondent Wail Dahduh said the situation is still very tense due to the continuation of Israeli military operations in the towns of Jabalya and Bait Lahia in northern Gaza. "Israeli forces, backed by military vehicles and bulldozers, advanced to the boundaries of Bloc 4, east of Jabalya refugee camp. They started razing vast farms and demolishing parts of houses after driving out their residents," reported our correspondent. "The Israeli forces have set up a high-technology surveillance tower for snipers who target people appearing in the streets or in the areas that the tower is overlooking. "The military operation is still ongoing and Palestinians fighters are firing rockers and bullets at Israeli vehicles advancing," he added. The fighting on Thursday claimed the lives of three Israelis and ten Palestinians, one of which was a 60-year old man named as Muhammad al-Hadal. He was fatally shot by soldiers posted on rooftops overseeing the camp, witnesses said. The latest Palestinian casualty was Muhammed al-Jaabir, a 17-year-old unarmed civilian, who was fatally shot in the head by Israeli fire, sources said. Atotal of 72 Palestinians were wounded in the operation including a cameraman who was shot in the shoulder. At least five of the wounded were in serious condition. **'Burial ground'*** The incursion into Jabalya marked the first time in four years of fighting that Israeli occupation troops pushed deep into the camp. In previous raids, they would enter outlying neighborhoods, but avoided longer stays. A masked Hamas fighter carrying a rocket launcher said he expected Israeli soldiers to leave soon. "Jabalya will be a burial ground for their soldiers," he said on condition of anonymity. "They will run away and we will stay." Israeli helicopters dropped Arabic-language flyers over northern Gaza, telling residents that "terrorism pushes you further into a life of misery and poverty." The leaflets also had a drawing of a monster, with the word terrorism written on it. **Overnight raid*** The army stepped up its raid overnight after two Israeli children were killed on Wednesday in a rocket attack in Sderot, near the Gaza border. On Wednesday, the army killed six Palestinians during a large incursion aimed at quelling rocket fire into nearby Israel by Palestinian fighters. On Wednesday, Israeli forces also shot dead a Palestinian boy of 13 outside a Jewish settlement in central Gaza, Palestinian medics said. **PHOTO CAPTION*** Palestinian mourners carry the flag draped body of Khalil Abu Naji, 23, during his funeral in Gaza City, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004.
