is it compulsory for household women to massage slaughtering animal before sacrifice?

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

It is not compulsory to massage the sacrificial animal before slaughtering it, whether by the household women or anyone else, and this is not a legislated act. Moreover, if one does so believing that it is a Sunnah, then this act is an innovation. ‘Aa’ishah narrated that the Prophet said: “Whoever introduces something new to Islam which is not part of it, it will be rejected.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 81799.
