Tawaaf of woman suffering continuous vaginal discharges Fatwa No: 177761
- Fatwa Date:23-8-2016
I went to ‘Umrah while I was suffering vaginal discharges. These discharges are sometimes continuous and sometimes intermittent. Before doing Tawaaf (circumambulation), I went to the toilet and found some of these discharges, so I used a handkerchief to stop them during Tawaaf and performed ablution. Having finished the rituals of ‘Umrah, I found some of these discharges on the handkerchief. Was my ‘Umrah valid? I felt the release of these discharges but did not care because of the handkerchief that I used. Would you please answer my question? May Allaah reward you!
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
These discharges, whether continuous or intermittent, that do not cease at specific time are subject to the same ruling as urinary incontinence. Such a woman is required to perform ablution for each prayer when its prescribed fixed time becomes due, so she performs the obligatory prayer as well as whatever she wants of the supererogatory prayers with the same ablution. She is not required to use a handkerchief or anything else because, according to the preponderant opinion, these discharges are pure. When a woman suffers these discharges and wants to perform ‘Umrah, she is required to perform ablution and then perform Tawaaf. She is not required to do anything else. Thus, if you performed ablution before Tawaaf for ‘Umrah, then it is valid and you are blameless for these discharges.
Allaah Knows best.
