Judging the class of Ahaadeeth is a matter of personal reasoning
Fatwa No: 34815

Question

There is a Shaykh who mentions many strange and fabricated Ahaadeeth that appeal to laypeople in the Friday Khutbah. What should I do with him? For your information, I have advised him a lot; however, he did not accept my advice. May Allaah Reward you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

Judging any Hadeeth as being Saheeh, Hasan, Dha‘eef, or Mawdhoo‘ is a matter of  personal reasoning.

Ibn As-Salah said after mentioning the definition of the Saheeh Hadeeth: “This is the only type of Hadeeth that all scholars agreed upon as being authentic. They may have different opinions concerning some other Hadeeths due to their differences regarding some of the conditions of its soundness or due to their differences in applying these conditions to a specific Hadeeth.”

Supposing that the Ahaadeeth that this Shaykh has mentioned are very weak or even fabricated, you have to advise him leniently and inform him of the great danger of speaking about the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, without knowledge.

Allaah Knows best.
