Weakness of report about whiteness of shin of women of Paradise Fatwa No: 356347
- Fatwa Date:21-11-2017
I was wondering about the following report: "Indeed, a woman from the people of Paradise, the whiteness of her shin is visible through seventy silk garments, as Allah says: {As if they were rubies and coral.} [Quran 55:58] As for the ruby, it is a stone; if you were to enter a wire through it, you would surely be able to see it through it."
I know that it is considered weak as a hadith, but what is its grade as a Mawqoof (attributed to a Companion) report? Please do not refer me to an existing fatwa, as the answer is not there.
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Al-Albaani underlined the weakness of this report both as Marfoo’ (a report that is directly attributed to the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and as Mawqoof (a report that stopped at the level of the Companion) in his commentary on Al-Munthiri's book At-Targheeb wa At-Tarheeb. He commented on the hadeeth, saying, “In both its Marfoo’ and Mawqoof versions, it includes ‘Ataa' ibn As-Saa'ib when his memory grew weak in old age.”
Allah knows best.
