Injustice Is Inconceivable with Respect to Allah Fatwa No: 429988
- Fatwa Date:13-10-2020
Assalamu 'alaikum. In our country I know a lot of people who believes that Allah is not capable to tell a lie or do julm. But Allah is capable to do every thing but He don't do all thing such as julm. What should I say to them?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Allah, The Almighty, is far Exalted above injustice, lying, and all aspects and attributes of imperfection. He Says (what means):
• {And who is more truthful than Allah in statement.} [Quran 4:87]
• {And your Lord is not ever unjust to [His] servants.} [Quran 41:46]
• {…and Allah wants no injustice to the worlds.} [Quran 3:108]
It was narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said in a Qudsi Hadeeth: “Allah, The Exalted, Said: ‘O My slaves! I have forbidden injustice for Myself, and I deemed it forbidden among you, so do not commit injustice against one another.” [Muslim]
Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “It can be said that injustice is inconceivable with respect to Allah, The Exalted, because it denotes wrongful disposal of others’ property, while all things belong to Allah, or because it denotes non-compliance with a command that must be obeyed. It is inconceivable that Allah, The Exalted, should dispose of others’ property (because all things belong to His Dominion) or go against the command of someone who must be obeyed (He is far Exalted above that)! Since injustice denotes one of these two meanings, it can be fairly said that injustice is inconvincible with respect to Allah, The Exalted. Another opinion suggests that it is conceivable but Allah, The Exalted, refrains from it because He is in no need for it, and He knows its reprehensible nature. Moreover, He has informed us that He has forbidden it for Himself; and also because His Perfection entails that injustice should not be attributed to Him. Since justice and mercy are among the Essential Attributes of Allah, The Exalted, it is inconceivable that their opposite should be attributed to Him, according to this opinion. There is underlying wisdom behind all His Actions necessitating them, and there is also underlying wisdom behind whatever He refrains from doing that necessitates deeming Him far Exalted above it.” [End of quote]
He also said: “You cannot praise someone for refraining from doing something beyond his capacity to begin with; it is inconceivable that one should be praised for not doing something that he cannot do, but one is rather praised for refraining from doing something that he is able to do. Accordingly, it is deduced that Allah, The Exalted, is (essentially) Able to do injustice but He Exalts Himself far above it. It is conceivable with respect to Him, but He does not do it because it is not befitting of Him, and in this way, we can properly understand His Saying (in the Qudsi Hadeeth): ‘I have forbidden injustice for Myself.’” [End of quote]
Allah Knows best.
