Mosque is too far away to attend Jumu'ah Fatwa No: 90431
- Fatwa Date:31-8-2005
I'm stay in the United State and I don't do the Friday prayer because I don't have any near Masjid round the area here only about 130 miles and I can't drive and my wife is busy in her work and cant to do this trip every week so what I can do for god to for give me for that and I know that I have to do the Friday prayer thanks for helping me.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Since you are 130 miles away from the mosque it is not obligatory on you to attend Friday prayer. Allaah Says (which means): {Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope.}[Quran 2:286]. However, if there is in your town or village a group of local Muslims then it is an obligation on all of you to establish Friday prayer and it does not necessarily have to be in a mosque. The preponderant opinion of the scholars is that it is acceptable to establish Friday prayer in any place with any number of people that could Islamicly be called a congregation (i.e. two and more).
For more benefit about the requirements for women to work, please refer to Fatwa: 82399 and Fatwa: 86405 about residing in a non-Muslim country. You could also refer to Fataawa: 82835 and 82979 on the conditions of Friday prayer.
Allaah Knows best.
